Exodus 3:4, ” And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. and he said, Here am I.”

This is of course the story of Moses and the burning bush. It is really a remarkable story in the Bible about how God first called Moses to go to Egypt and deliver his people the Israelites from the slavery they were in there in Egypt. It was a fulfillment of a longstanding prophesy for the Israelites to be delivered.

What strikes me as I read that verse is how God wasn’t calling for Moses to come see the burning bush. He didn’t yell out MOSES, MOSES!!. Instead God called out to Moses, only after Moses turned away from the task he was trying to accomplish, to see what this remarkable sight of a bush (not) burning was all about.

How many times does God try to get our attention through the day? Do you know? Well maybe I don’t either. I would challenge all of us to make sure to stop and notice when God puts something in our path. You never know when God is trying to talk to us, if only we would take the time to be aware of what He is saying.
